Today I put a deposit down on a '99 32 hp L2900 GST w/ p/s and tilt wheel. It's got 492 hours showing on the meter. Looks great, appears to run good, no obvious problems. Price is $6500. Is this about right or too good to be true?
Any common problems or tale tale signs to be on the look out for? I've been dreaming of a tractor for 10-15 years.

It is definately on the low end of the prices for this unit with 500 hrs. I think you did good.
I would check your brakes, oil leaks, sludge in the engine etc. The normal thinks. I have not owned a Kubota so hopefully someone can fill you in on the specific little things. ....

Get the serial number, have it run though a police check to see if it's stolen, even if it's from a dealer. ....

Where is the serial # tag generally located? If it's been removed, where else would the # be stamped? Since I'm in S. Louisiana - post Katrina - the thought of a stolen unit or one that received flood damage did cross my mind. I did notice 2 dealer/service stickers affixed to the unit. Would these dealers be willing/able to provide info. re: service history/prior owner(s)?

The unit comes with 3 or 4 weights on the front. Will that be sufficient for running a 4' box blade and a 5' cutter? Also, I've seen brush guards on many tractors - seems to be a sensible accessory. Some are clearly improvised/home-made, others manufactured. Any recommendations for this?

For the box blade you won't need much but the five foot brush hog will stick about seven foot to the rear and for sure should need some. If you have industrial tiresw you might be wider then five feet wide. ....

I don't know where the serial# would be, call a dealer or the manufacturer. If they get upset that you want the serial# walk away. ....

The serial numbers on most Kubota stuff is on the left hand side of the transmission housing or on the frame rail. For front guards when I sell tractors I most always add them unless told not to but it is to protect the investment as hoods and light assemblies are not as cheap as the brush guards. ....
